 Our Story

YADDA was founded in 2007, by our current chair and other York-Based families. We all experienced problems with having our voices heard and discovered difficulties in raising awareness of the real impact that learning difficulties can have emotionally on a child. Having witnessed the issues first hand, each of us said the same thing: "There has to be a better way". YADDA, we hope, is that better way.

 Since Formation

In the intervening years, we have won awards for our work, our membership has boomed, and we have recently launched a Not- for-Profit screening-and-assessment service. As part of the British Dyslexia Association, we continue to support families in the York and District Area, and welcome families and enquiries from all areas in Yorkshire.

 What We Do

YADDA is a support group for those people impacted by Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalulia, Meares-Irlen syndrome and other learning difficulties. We support children, young people, adults and families via regular meetings and social activities. We are a parent led group, and value people's differences and uniqueness. We strive to give clear, professional support to young people and adults, and to provide children with a range of activities to build confidence and self-esteem.
